SMP: A Look at Telehealth Fraud
Due to the expansion of telehealth in both inpatient and outpatient services and the troublesome combination of telehealth with telemarketing schemes, the Department of Justice and associated enforcement agencies have made telehealth an area of focus. The fraud schemes will sound familiar: billing for services not rendered, upcoding, misrepresentation, and kickbacks and bribes.
